Brad Marchand gets 5
The NHL has finally announced Brad Marchand will receive 5 games for the clipping incident. I am still on the fence about this. I hate to see clipping but if you look at the play again Brad Marchand Bridged himself to protect himself from an in coming hit. I feel like if he was taller and his reputation didn’t precede him this wouldn’t have been 5 games.The league has done a lot to improve player safety over the course of the last year which I don’t think anyone can complain about. I think my biggest problem with this hit and the suspension is the same problem I have in most games. Officiating and policing the game needs to happen early and appropriately. If you look at the first 4 minutes of the game Shawn Thornton was mauled by 6 Canucks, Lucic was thrown out of the game for hopping in off a line change and 10 minutes later Canucks self-proclaimed tough guy started a with Thornton before the face off and when Thornton finally dropped his gloved the guy skates away gloves and stick in hand to try to draw a penalty. If your going to be a bunch of arrogant asses throw down like men and police the game yourselves. Don’t let it get to the point where cheap shots are thrown, clipping takes places, and high sticks fly left any right.
