“Go Back From Wence You Came…” or something like that.
Deadline are reporting that
Legendary Pictures have decided to walk away from the big screen adaptation of John Milton’s
Paradise Lost. The film, which had Bradley Cooper attached to star as Lucifer, originally
had its production pushed back from January to the summer this year. However, after failing to bring the budget under the projected $120 million bracket, Legendary have decided to bin the project.
What a shame. A big screen version of the epic poem about good vs evil would have been fantastic to see and nice to see director Alex Proyas return to more gothic roots, as per his first feature, The Crow. Paradise Lost also had Benjamin Walker, Diego Boneta, Camilla Belle Eve, Djimon Hounsou, and Rufus Sewell attached to star. Hopefully this project might appeal to another movie studio who can give the production another go.
