Braveheart was a 1995 film loosely based on the historical figure, Sir William Wallace, a 13th century knight who rebelled against English rule and became one of the leaders in the Wars of Scottish Independence. Wallace was played by actor, Mel Gibson.
A Braveheart costume consists of a belted plaid or tartan kilt, blue face paint (woad), long hair with side braids/plaits, arm bracers and a long, two handed sword.
