Brazilian dishes - Familly everyday cooking

Traditional Brazilian food recepies, for everyday and special occasions.

Brazilian Black Beans

1 or 2 smoked ham hocks
2 bay leaf
dried black beans

saute:
1 large minced white onion
3 garlic chopped
3/4 bunch of parsley finely chopped (no stems)
salt
pepper
olive oil

soak bean over night.
put beans, ham hocks and bay leaf in a large pot and add enough water
to cover beans at least 4 inches. cook 45 minutes in pressure cooker.

while that is cooking saute onion, garlic, parsley in a pan on a low flame.
add salt and pepper to taste and cook until onions are translucent.

when beans are finished cooking, add sauted onions to the beans and cook 5 more minutes.
