A news report relating to inflammatory breast cancer has sent shock waves over the Internet. This type of cancer is found in a very low percentage of women and is not detected by normal methods such as self examination or mammograms.

On Monday, the U.S. Prevention Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued new screening recommendations for women who are asymptomatic and who are not at increased risk of developing breast cancer. New guidelines by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists say most women in their 20s can have a Pap smear every two years instead of annually to catch slow-growing cervical cancer.
