BRENDA Blethyn’s detective series Vera has been renewed for a second series. ITV has commissioned four more two-hour episodes of the crime thriller, which sees Blethyn playing DCI Vera Stanhope. David Leon will also be back as Stanhope’s parter and surrogate son DS Joe Ashworth, while Wunmi Mosaku, Jon Morrison and Paul Ritter are also returning as Vera’s squad of detectives.
