Zimbio Review - 'THE GUARD'

By Joe Robberson on
The Bottom Line Should you see it? Yes. Why? One of the few complete films of 2011. McDonagh is a writer/director to watch. John Michael McDonagh, following in his brother, Martin's, footsteps, has made the best comedy of 2011. Both brothers made their mark with great short films (The Second Death by John Michael, and Oscar nominee Six Shooter by Martin) and followed them up with original European crime comedies starring Brendan Gleeson. Martin directed 2008's In Bruges, and now John...Read Full Story

Brendan Gleeson & Don Cheadle Interview For ‘The Guard’

By kishor212 on  From flicksandbits.com
‘The Guard’ is a hilarious, fish out of water tale of murder, blackmail, drug trafficking and rural police corruption. Sergeant Gerry Boyle (Brendan Gleeson) is a small-town cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle) to his door. However, despite the fact that Boyle seems more...Read Full Story

This new poster has made its way online for John Michael McDonagh’s upcoming comedy crime flick ‘The Guard.’ John Michael McDonagh is the brother Martin McDonough, writer/director of ‘In Bruges,’ which also starred Brendan Gleeson to hilarious effect. The story centers on a cop (Brendan Gleeson) in Ireland who ends up assisting an FBI agent (Don Cheadle) in his hunt for drug traffickers. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this film, it’s said to be full of banter and hilarious moments...Read Full Story

IN BRUGES (COLIN FARELL, BRENDAN GLEESON, RALPH FIENNES, CLEMENCE POESY;2008)

By simrallm on  From simcinema.blogspot.com
EITHER THERE REALLY ISN'T ANY FLOURIDE IN THEIR WATER OR EUROPEANS ACTUALLY BRUSH THEIR TEETH WITH COFFEE AND CAT SHIT. IN BRUGES IS THE STORY OF TWO HUMOROUS HITMEN BANISHED TO THE HISTORIC, BELGIUM CITY, BRUGES, AFTER BOTCHING THEIR LASTEST ASSIGNMENT IN ENGLAND. THIS MOVIE ALMOST MANAGES TO JUMP FROM TEAR-JERKING DRAMA TO COMEDY WITHOUT A SECOND'S NOTICE. HOWEVER, IT'S A LITTLE UNEVEN. IT'S LIKE WATCHING REQUIEM FOR A DREAM AND THE FIRST SEASON OF PERFECT STRANGERS IN THE SAME DAY, OR...Read Full Story

Watch The Hilarious Trailer For The Guard Starring Brendan Gleeson

By Kevin Coll on  From fusedfilm.com
While the Sony Pictures Classic release of the trailer for The Guard was only a morsel of what we would get before its theatrical release, the studio has decided to tease us yet again with even more high brow antics of Brendan Gleesen being a law bending racist Irish cop. Don Cheadle provides casting support to Gleeson’s character and Liam Cunningham, Mark Strong, Rory Keenan and Sarah Greene round out the cast. I have to say that I did get a few laughs out of me while watching this trailer...Read Full Story

Funny Trailer for Brendan Gleeson, Don Cheadle Buddy Movie 'The Guard'

By Robert Wadlow on  From getthebigpicture.net
In what has been an uncharacteristically slow week for new movie trailers, the trailer for The Guard starring In Bruges standout Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle is by the far the best of the lot.  This dark, witty comedy takes us to the not so mean streets of Ireland, where a slightly foul-mouthed policeman (Gleeson) is ordered to join forces with an uptight FBI agent Wendell Everett (Cheadle) to investigate an international drug smuggling ring in the area.Read Full Story
