Bret Michaels Bald? The answer: Probably not. While Bret has admitted to using hair extensions, he insists he's not bald and that the hats and bandanas he wears are part of his image as one of the greatest hair rockers of the 1980s.

On Bret's VH1 dating show
Rock of Love, when he was called out on wearing "fake hair," he said: "I spent some quality money on the finest hair extensions Europe had to offer. So if you call me out on it I'm fine, baby, I'm fine."
He further explained what's going on to
Blender when asked by a reader if he was bald. "No. I have hair, but it’s not as long as I’d like it to be. I have baby-fine hair, slightly receding in the front, but not bald. Actually, they’re not called extensions anymore–they’re “individuals.” They tie in to each of your hairs. If it ever comes to a point where I need to do something about it–meaning get hair plugs–I will."
Seems like he's being pretty up front about all of this. He's not the only rocker to wear "fake hair" either. Of the original members of KISS, only two (
Gene Simmons and
Paul Stanley) still have full heads of hair while
Ace Frehley and
Peter Criss both perform in wigs. Sometimes a wig can be just as iconic as a real head of hair -- just look at
Andy Warhol whose art was inextricably tied to pop music.
Sometimes even women have to wear "fake hair."
Tina Turner and
Dolly Parton are both known for wearing wigs. Tina wrote in her 1986 autobiography (co-written by
Kurt Loder) that she started wearing wigs after a bad bleach job at a hair salon.
"That was a trendy thing at the time, but they overbleached my hair, and they left the heat cap on too long -- and all my hair fell off. There was just like a stubble left. I thought I would die. My hair! Well, it would grow back, but slowly, right? And so that's when I started wearing the wigs."
Despite his insistence to the contrary, many people still think Bret is bald.
