Lavin and Chad Damiani, who are also writing an adaptation of the Bryan Singer-produced Capeshooters , another Liefeld creation. Youngblood is a government sanctioned superhero team that are treated like celebrities, a far cry from ... Read Full Story

Brett Ratner has signed on to direct an adaption of Rob Liefeld's 'Youngblood' for the Indian media conglomerate, Reliance Big Entertainment. The company paid mid six figures (Why?) for the rights to the comic about a superhero team sanctioned and overseen by the U.S. government. According to Bret Ratner, ""Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and 'Youngblood' is one of the few comicbooks left with tentpole potential," So apparently they just settled for 'Youngblood'. Brett Ratner’s claim that he lost his virginity to a paraplegic dangling from a tree – which he’s included in his latest movie -- is so bogus that it is hard to believe no one has called him on it.The apocryphal story is based on a joke that is at least 40 years old, if not older. It’s hard to believe he actually claims it’s true. It's so far fetched, it’s an insult and a disservice to anyone who suffers from a physical handicap. That makes...

Documentary sequels do occasionally exist though, and the most necessary of these are the follow-ups to films involving inconclusive or controversial legal cases. Must-see examples include Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky's "Paradise Lost 2: Revelations" and [...]

So it is rare to happen upon a great first line that begs the reader to stop reading, and, if possible, to reverse time in order to erase the horrific first line from memory entirely. The following is one of those first lines. From Contact Music (the...

What is it that makes a Brett Ratner film a Brett Ratner film? Unlike with other directors who've earned dicey critical reputations—Michael Bay, say, or Uwe Boll—the worst that can be said of Ratner is that he makes crassly populist movies, and that in interviews, he can be a bit of a blowhard. But while his work lacks subtlety, it’s hardly devoid of artistry. Ratner’s movies aren’t overly frenetic or gratuitously gross; the man knows his...

It's been a few years since a biopic about Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner was announced with Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Red Dragon) attached to direct. Last year there was even a rumor that Robert Downey Jr. was in very serious negotiations to take on the role of the father of the Playboy bunny. However, other than quick fleeting mentions of speculation it doesn't seem like there's been any real progress made towards going into production...
