GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Reuters) - To understand what the National Football League and the beloved Packers mean to the residents of Green Bay you need only ask for directions. Head Coach – Brad Childress - 2006 – Present. His 3 1/3 year record is 31 – 25 – All of a sudden, he’s become a real strategic genius. Talent will do that for you. Getting a QB who can play will do that for you. It is quite likely that “Chilli” wasn’t as inept as previously thought. I never really thought of him as “inept”, just as I no don’t think of him as the next coming of Vince Lombardi. But seriously, Childress deserves credit for surrounding himself with an excellent and highly competent staff. ** See Below. He and General Manager Rick ... Read Full Story

One coach parted with a legend, shipping out the most decorated quarterback in league history in favor of a younger, newer model. The other coach was "willing to cut off his arms and legs," as one Minnesota Vikings player put it, to convince said legend to come out of retirement a second time and join the Vikings. Fair or not, both Mike McCarthy and Brad Childress likely will find their coaching legacies tied to how they handled Brett Favre. McCarthy and Packers GM Ted Thompson decided to move on without Favre last year, ending a 16-year relationship between team and player that was as ... Read Full Story
MIAMI (Reuters) - Brett Favre returns to Green Bay on Sunday for the first time with the Minnesota Vikings, lining up against the team where he broke so many records. Aware of that, some Packers fans are trying to see the funny side of Favre's return in the purple jersey of their Minnesota rivals and the mayor of Green Bay has wisely decided mockery rather than hatred is a better image for his ... Sunday was a day of terrible inner strife. Suffering through Brett Favre throwing daggers threw my (and my beloved Green Bay Packers) heart.Like any divorce, love and hate ride the same train ready to get off at any stop. If Brett Favre had only stayed retired when he first retired, he would have been the most beloved Packer of them all, not only because hed be 40 years more recent than any of the stars of the Lombardi years but because the Lombardi players loved Brett, too.

Brad Childress came under a bit of fire in Week Eight as it was revealed that Vikings QB Brett Favre had played through a groin injury while leading his team to victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Favre was not listed on the injury report, even as probable, and it is against league rules for any athlete injury to be hidden, possibly keeping the other team at a competitive disadvantage. Nothing to worry about here, as witnessed...
