Brett Favre

Brett Favre

Brett Favre is a living legend who just retired from the Green Bay Packers. He passed for 442 touchdowns (an NFL record), earned 3 MVP awards, had 160 wins as a starting quarterback, and 5,377 pass completions.

It's the Jets for Brett Favre

Someone finally gave quarterback Brett Favre a home, and it wasn't Green Bay. Since Favre announced (yet again) he's desire to come out of retirement, who he would play for was up in the air.

Green Bay didn't want him, then they did, now they don't. Then there were the talks of Tampa Bay, but Thursday morning it was official. Favre would be the new quarterback for the New York Jets .

As of Wednesday, Tampa Bay was Favre's favored choice, but it seems that the Jets management won him over. After staying with one team for 16 years, it's understandable that Favre would be hesitant of his next move.

To ease that tension the Jets talked up life in New York to Favre, his wife Deanna and his brother Scott. In the end, the Jets won him over. Still, the trade has yet to be finalized, the league must still approve it.

Although the Green Bay community was looking forward to the return of their favorite quarterback, Favre will be well received in New York. The Jets went only 4-12 last season and are hoping Favre can bring the team together and possibly make a run for the playoffs.

The Jets' preseason opener is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday at the Cleveland Browns. Favre is not expected to play, but he will meet with the team in New York on Thursday.

The Packers released an official statement saying they were sad to let Favre go, but they wished him well and were glad to be able to put this business behind them and begin their new season.
