Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive end Brett Keisel and his family will join Sewickley Patch and others at Penguin Bookshop Saturday in support of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund and childhood reading.
The Penguin Bookshop Children’s Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is a celebration of summer reading, for, and by children in the greater Pittsburgh community.
Keisel is scheduled to arrive at 11 a.m. and plans to read two of his favorite childhood stories in support of HCEF and the power of reading.
“We are strong supporters of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund and we love being a part of the Sewickley community,” Keisel said in a statement. “I am excited to read a few of my favorite children’s books to the families participating in the festival.”
The family-centered festival is open to the public and includes games and face painting as well as an ice cream social, with sundaes and all your favorite toppings courtesy of Sewickley Patch.
This event will be an effort to accumulate donated books geared towards teens for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
Since 1999, the Homeless Children’s Education Fund, a non-profit, has been dedicated to ensuring that homeless children living in shelters throughout Allegheny County have equal access to the same educational resources, opportunities and experiences as their peers.
Come out and support the power of reading and HCEF as they collect new books geared towards teens.
