Chris Wright was one of two Dayton players who had double-doubles Tuesday night, and his 23 points and 12 rebounds led the Flyers to a 76-68 victory over Akron.
Wright's double-double was his second in as many games. Devin Searcy added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Dayton, which outrebounded the Zips 42-27 and defeated them for the 11th consecutive time in the series.
It was also the Flyers' 38th consecutive nonconference home victory.
Dayton (2-0) led 42-31 at halftime but Akron (1-1) fought back. Led by Brett McClanahan and Steve McNees, the Zips rallied for a two-point lead with 8:20 left. McClanahan, who finished with a career-high 21 points, and McNees combined for nine 3-pointers.
Juwan Staten scored 11 points — all in the first half — for Dayton, which led by as many as 14 points in the opening 20 minutes.
