DIRECTOR Brett Ratner has had no involvement with Quentin Tarantino's recent war thriller Inglourious Basterds or with the upcoming films Avatar, The Wolfman or Prince of Persia, but somehow he has managed to get a cameo appearance in all of them, courtesy of some spoof posters on a new website. Ratnerfilms depicts the filmmaker digitally added to publicity images of Joe Johnston's The Wolfman, James Cameron's Avatar, Mike Newell's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Grant Heslov's comedy The Men Who Stare at Goats (or stare at Ratner in this case), as well as several other releases. It's not the first time ... Read Full Story

Moviehole has gotten a hold of some new character breakdowns for Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan remake. I am not going to bother posting all the descriptions but I will highlight a few here. You can go to the link above and read about the characters in more detail. The story seems like your basic Conan origin. “Being the last of his tribe and having to watch his father die a cruel death, he is determined avenge his peoples slaughter by killing all those who led the attack on the Cimmerians, including the all-powerful Khalar Singh. He is prepared to die in order to accomplish ... Read Full Story

FANBOYS don't seem very keen on director Brett Ratner - the mere mention of his name induces apoplexy in some members of the online community and he once acknowledged: "They think I'm the Antichrist!" Ratner has taken a lot of flak over his work on X-Men: The Last Stand, a film that has divided superhero fans. On the filmmaker's own web forum, a thread for the movie entitled 'Awesome job' sits alongside others saying 'Shoot your writers!' and Who else should have directed X3?', while one called 'You RUINED the X-Men franchise' is there along with another proclaiming 'I LOVED X-Men 3' Ratner, 39, ... DIRECTOR Brett Ratner says he is now in the process of working out the costs and locations for his proposed new Conan movie. He said: "That's something I'm actively attached to. We're just budgeting the script and trying to figure out when's a good time and where to shoot it. It's kind of a global landscape." Ratner had earlier spoken about finding an actor to play the barbarian warrior famously brought to life by Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying: "I believe it should be an unknown... Conan is kind of iconic. It's kind of like when you do Superman. "Look, it's difficult to fill those shoes ... Read Full Story

DIRECTOR Brett Ratner is no longer attached to the remake of Conan, according to the film's producer Joe Gatta. Gatta told Empire : "We're currently in the process of hiring a director. For the past six months we were discussing the movie with Brett Ratner and, for more timing issues than anything else, we had to part ways with Brett. "We all wanted him to do it, believe me; just the timing didn't work." Then he added, hinting that the door was not firmly closed on Ratner: "But you never know what can happen." Gatta said that work would first press ahead on Conan ... Read Full Story

Some of the weirdest and most interesting news lately has been about action in the edit bay. We saw that a couple of world-class craftsmen had been brought in to rework The Wolfman, for one. Now there are tales of tweaks that run both ends of the crazy spectrum. When we can run a news item that puts Brett Ratner and Peter Jackson in the same headline you know the world has gone topsy-turvy, but at least they're not working together. First up...

For the second time this week, the morning's Daily TwitPic showcases Brett Ratner's special relationship with pop legend Michael Jackson. Like the posting from earlier this week, today's pic comes courtesy of Twitter user @MJJalways. Variety is reporting that Brett Ratner has been hand-selected by Reliance Big Pictures to re-edit a forthcoming drama of theirs, Kites, in order to make the film more accessible to international audiences. Yes, the man who made the Rush Hour trilogy has been tapped to once again crush cultural barriers (assuming that's what Reliance thinks he did with those films). The production is being filmed in both Hindi and English, so it'll be Ratner's...
