Brett Ratner continues penance by directing GLAAD campaign

Hollywood’s gay and lesbian community is an extremely powerful force in the entertainment industry. Only a brain dead idiot or the P.T. Barnum of douchebags would dare test their influence. Brett Ratner happens to be one of the rarest of individuals who fit both of those descriptions. Whenever he seems to open his mouth he becomes a walking advertisement for Murphy’s Law, especially during the Fall of 2011.

Back in November, Ratner famously spent the majority of the month crudely spouting off his mouth, which led to losing his job as producer of the Academy Awards and becoming indebted to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. The “Rush Hour” director was always considered an odd choice to produce the traditional award show, but he continued to turn heads after bragging about making Lindsay Lohan get tested for STDs before having sex with her and claiming to “bang” Olivia Munn “before she was Asian.” However saying “rehearsal is for fags” during a Q&A was like removing the lynchpin block in a Jenga game.

Since his moronic statement Ratner has spent the past few months trying to correct his public relations blunder. As part of his penance he will be directing the newest GLAAD campaign.

According to GLAAD, the campaign will “feature Hollywood celebrities, athletes, musicians, and politicians ‘coming out of the closet’ as supporters of equality. They will share personal stories about why and how they support the LGBT community and call on Americans to do the same.”

“Working together with GLAAD has been a very positive and enlightening experience for me, and I could not be more pleased to be developing this crucial campaign to help educate people that we all share the same humanity,” Ratner said in a statement, ‘I am excited to get to work on this program and hope that minds and hearts are opened by what we create.” Ratner’s latest endeavor with GLAAD came after a meeting with the organization’s board of directors this weekend, which also included Brian Grazer, Adam Shankman, and Bryan Singer, among others.

Hopefully GLAAD continues to use Ratner like their own personal puppet on retainer. They would be doing the world a favor by keeping the no-talent hack busy producing and directing commercials gratis, and far away from “Rush Hour 8.”
