David Hyde Pierce Married His Longtime Partner Before Gay Marriage Ban

The couple has been together for several years. Frasier's David Hyde Pierce revealed on The View this week that he and his longtime boyfriend, Brian Hargrove, were married last fall, before the California gay marriage ban.

Pierce is said to be an intensely private person, but he chose to reveal his happy news in light of California's decision this week to uphold Prop. 8, which bans gay marriage. Pierce told the ladies of The View:
Brian and I always kept a low profile. We didn't hide our lives. We got married very quietly last October 24 and thought that was fine, and then suddenly the state of California said, 'No it's not.'
Pierce's marriage is still valid, as are those of the thousands of gays and lesbians who were married before the ban. But he's still angry to hear that equal rights aren't being extended to all.
Can you imagine if you're married, [and] the people in your state getting together and saying, 'Well, you know what, you're not.' It's a very odd thing.
