NewsdayBrian Schneider can play through pain, as all catchers must, but the right forearm bruise he suffered in the ninth inning Saturday still hurt too much for him to start the Mets' series finale against the Phillies last night.-- Schneider, is a very important player for the Mets to achieve on difficult games for this year. He has proven us, that he can replace Paul Lo Duca. Schneider, who last year had a poorly offense, is now hitting the ball pretty well. He is hitting for a high season average, of .308 and already has seven RBIs for the season.
I know some Met fan, disbelieved that Schneider wasn't going to be a big offense for the Mets this year. But just look at him, he could hit better than he did with the Nationals. The only thing that I'm concerned about is his defense, he used to be a better defensive catcher with the Nats. But, everything looks different this year for him defensively, a reason of that may be that he didn't got so much time in Spring Training, to know the pitchers. But at least he keeps hitting, for an average hitter.
I hope he comes back fine tomorrow and be ready to play more games as the Mets' starting catcher.
