Last summer, a friend I've had for 30 years tied the knot. I was one of her bride's maids. Oh, the lessons we learn about others when we agree to play such roles for people we
think we know. And boy, did I learn much about myself and my friend, affectionately referred to as Bridezilla, as she prepared for her big day.
As you would expect from any woman planning her wedding,
everything had to be perfect. And the woman selected to be her maid-of-honor (MOH) shared that same sentiment with regard to the big pre-wedding celebration most brides expect: the bridal shower. I knew I was in way over my head at about hour 4 of what turned out to be a 9 hour party involving 3 ladies
hand making the perfect
bridal shower invitations. 60 of them, to be exact. And it was only after we were finished heat setting the glittery ink to emboss the silver glass slippers and carefully assembling all the parts of each invitation that we noticed a glaring typo. Ooops!
Bridezilla couldn't have just
any invitation... she had to have the perfect
shower invitations for her big day. Apparently, brides are allowed more than one perfect day to celebrate their nuptials. 9 years ago, when I got married, I know I searched high and low for the perfect
wedding invitations that encompassed our Irish theme. But since I had no expectations about a bridal shower, it never occurred to me that someone would need to find (or even make) the perfect invitation for that.
Yes, I learned much about myself and my dear friend, Bridezilla, last year. And I'm still recovering from all the perfect hoopla.
