For Four Years, David Goldman has Been Begging for His Son Back

Four years ago David Goldman drove his wife and son to the Newark airport in New Jersey. When she arrived, she called him with the news. She was staying in Brazil -- and so was their son.

David Goldman has been fighting legal battles for the past four years to regain custody of his son, Sean. Repeatedly frustrated in his attempts to win his son back, a tragic event recently allowed Goldman a glimmer of hope.

His estranged wife, Bruna, who had married another man in Brazil, died while giving birth to her new husband's child in August of this year.

Goldman thought for certain he would receive custody of the child, but Bruna's husband has filed paperwork in Brazil to have David Goldman's name removed from Sean's birth certificate. And Brazilian authorities have shown no sign that they plan to intervene.

If the story frustrates you, imagine what it's like for Goldman. The distraught father has infused his efforts to regain Sean with new vigor lately, appearing on "Today" with Meredith Vieira and saying "In essence, this man who is no blood relation to my son could be any man taking any child to Brazil and filing custody, and with the delayed process of those courts, they’ll say, ‘Yes, this child belongs with that person.’” (More here)
