February is a great month for fans of AV and Hifi, as the UKs biggest AV and Hifi show takes place in Bristol at the Marriott hotel.
The Bristol Sound and Vision show is the one place to be to see the latest models from the key players in AV and Hifi. At the Bristol show this February there will be over 200 big name brands, some of them include Sennheiser, Sony, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, Spectral, Grado and Nordost. A fantastic thing about the Bristol show they have a great selection of AV and Hifi products, from CD players, tuners amplifiers and cables, to LCD, LED and plasma televisions and TV stands and cabinets.
About two years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Bristol Show to see the latest models and equipment for myself.
After the 3 hour train journey from Bolton I arrived in Bristol, the Marriott hotel was only a stones through away. It was £8 to get in to the Sound and Vision show, so armed with a map and brochure I was off to explore the show.
On the ground floor near the entrance I found a great selection of accessory companies, showcasing cables and AV Furniture, stands and cabinets. Spectral and Just-Racks were there with their premium furniture that is available in of 2000 colours, and the multi award winning Atacama with their professional and sleek TV and Hifi racks.
In the large rooms on the first floor of the Marriott were where the big AV manufactures were. KEF, Denon, Sony, JVC and Pioneer where some of the brands show casing their products in these rooms.
In the Q Acoustics room on one of the lower floors they were demonstration the new Q-AV system, which was a very impressive and effective sound bar with rear speakers, which is great if you don't have a square room or your TV is in the corner. Upstairs in the bedrooms of the Bristol Marriott the rooms had been transformed into intimate demonstration rooms by each brand, allowing the visitors and show goers an up close and personal experience of their equipment.
At the Bristol Sound and Vision show you are sometimes able to buy equipment directly from the manufactures at slightly discounted prices. Strolling around the Sound and vision show I saw some really impressive pieces of equipment, many of which I wanted for myself. . Making a mental note of the codes and products I was interested in I spoke to a sales man at Sound and Vision to see if they had better prices.
To my delight Sound and Vision could match the prices I had seen at the show, and I could buy them on interest free finance. The Bristol show was great, and it was even better because I left the show confident that I had bought the right products from Sound and vision in Bolton.
This year the sound and Vision Bristol show will be even bigger, with the launch of some mind blowing products, it is not to be missed, just one word of advice, make sure you take a number of a good local dealer and see what they can do on price before you buy. Sound and vision have a website www.soundandvision.co.uk and their number is 01204 861861.
