More than ever, a manufacturer's logistics provider, and their choice of carrier, must become professional partners if they are to succeed. British Airways World Cargo's Constant Climate air freight service was launched in order to capture a share of this rapidly growing market, which requires temperature-controlled special handling. The aims of this role are to expand the current Constant Climate product and to lead the growth of this product internally and with our customers. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing temperature-controlled air freight logistics and experience with the current offering of solutions available in the market. Alongside managing new product developments, they should have the capability to inspire others through their personal passion and build effective relationships with our customers, partners and other BA World Cargo teams. Job Purpose:
Relaunch and grow contribution from BA World Cargo's Constant Climate product through effective selling, marketing, training, budget control and achievement of key operational metrics
Represent BA World Cargo at senior levels within designated customer organisations and provide effective liaison and product management with the carrier's global sales teams
Key Interactions:
Internally:
Extensive contact with the carrier's sales VPs's and key commercial managers plus appropriate level of interaction with members of the cargo leadership team and Managing Director, global customer service teams, revenue management and finance departments
Externally:
Ongoing contact with logistics and procurement managers of designated customer organisations
Good contact to senior level within the designated customer organisations
Good contact to senior level within equipment supplier organisations
Interface as appropriate with key trade and legislative bodies
Responsibilities Principal accountabilities:
Design, implement and launch an enhanced Constant Climate product to ensure that the carrier's strategy is met, it's Heathrow facility optimised, the yield and market share growth targets achieved and the product recognised as best in class
Engage and deliver optimal supplier solution for acquisition, distribution and maintenance of special handling equipment.
Identify ground facility requirements and implement where required.
Install customer care team.
Ensure standard operating procedures are in place for each lane of business.
Design and lead global commercial and operational training
Leading role in business planning process, interfacing with and influencing sales teams budget submissions and supporting operational areas from a cost perspective
Overview of revenue conformance and regular interface with sales teams and Pricing Manager to agree, implement and monitor pricing differentials
For designated accounts, design and implement individual customer commercial strategies to deliver the revenue goal at minimum cost
Identify opportunities to leverage business, utilising access to high demand routes for support on weaker routes, both inter and intra region
Increase the depth of our key account relationships through regular contact and reviews at a corporate level within customers' organisations
Effective communications and PR activity for key internal and external audiences
Establish & lead product specific business forums at local, regional and global level
In conjunction with geography sales teams prepare and submit customer specific tenders as requested
Utilise all available management information to fully exploit business opportunities
Undertake market research (as appropriate) to identify market size, growth, share
Identify and participate in trade fairs and industry forums as appropriate
