Britney Spears Freaks Out Over Fan Coming Onstage (2)

Britney Spears in The CircusBritney Spears’ current tour, The Circus, has been plagued by mishaps.  Ordinarily, these occurrences consist only of hilarious instances where her microphone is turned on at inopportune moments, thus giving everyone the chance to hear Britney say something obscene.

On Saturday, in Connecticut, something different happened: a fan jumped onstage in an effort to… hold your breath now… dance with the “singer” - I do think “performer” is probably a better word.  Britney completely lost it and screamed - except that nobody could hear her.  Ooops.  She also started shaking uncontrollably.  To the two of you who were holding out hope that the pop princess actually sings live for her fans: I’m sorry, but you had to learn it somehow.

I would, however, like to point out that Britney was a sport about it and finished her performance.  On the other hand, let’s also point out the fact that all that stupid fan did was manage to get onstage.  He didn’t even run up to her, and was definitely not armed.  The pathetic guy was subsequently arrested.

Britney’s overreaction sheds light on the fact that she’s not ready to be performing yet: she’s not stable mentally.  It all works well and fine under normal conditions: she shouldn’t touch her fans or interact with them at all.  When something unexpected happens, however, she loses all of her composure.  Sure, the guy could’ve been armed (yet he wasn’t); he was just a stupid kid.

I blame the security team for all of this and hope somebody got fired for it.  If Britney ends up dying on stage, she will forever be remembered as an icon of this generation and all of her past crazyness will be either lost of romanticized.  Do we want that?  No, no we most certainly do not.  This is what we want: Britney Spears, alive and well, being her crazy self.

The video of the incident - the fun begins around the 2:15 mark:
