Australian Lawmaker Warns Fans Britney Spears Lip-Syncs in Concert

It's no secret that Britney Spears and other big names in the music biz lip-sync during at least part of their concerts. With all the theatrics and dancing and other craziness during the show, we're sure it isn't easy to hit all the right notes, too. But mouthing the words isn't something people like to talk about, except in Australia, apparently.

Brit's slated to play a bunch of gigs Down Under, many of which have already sold out, but some lawmakers are making a stink about the possibility that she'll use a pre-recorded track for some of her songs.

Officials want to make sure fans aren't being misled when they fork over the big bucks to see Britney in concert, so they've tossed around the idea of putting a disclaimer on tickets and promotional material. We can just see it now: a big, red warning label plastered on each ticket. Nice.

Virginia Judge, the Minister for Fair Trading, who's backing the effort to warn fans of the potential for lip-syncing, said (via People magazine): "It is Britney's 'prerogative' to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front."

We guess if you scrounge up $1,300 to see a concert, it would be nice to know exactly what to expect, but we also imagine Britney fans are paying for the experience -- not just to make sure she really hits the high notes.
