Brooke Simmons didn't want John Karr arrested
She claims that the domestic dispute was minor and that John Karr wasn't going to really hurt anyone. However, when the police arrived they decided to take him into custody because they noticed signs of physical violence. The phone was shattered and Karr's father had cuts and scrapes.
Both Karr's father and Simmons said they don't think he would've been taken into custody if not for his infamous name. Zgonc said it is routine for an arrest to be made in domestic violence cases when a primary aggressor (in this case, John Mark Karr) is identified.
