It’s always delightful to hear what Bruce Boudreau has to say. Bonus: if you haven’t gotten your copy of his book signed yet, tonight’s your chance!

(10) Gabby from the Get-go . Capitals players had plenty of time to come to grips with Bruce Boudreau’s system, what with his arriving from Hershey at Thanksgiving. In his 61 games in 2007-08, Boudreau went 20 games over .500 (37-17-7). Had that projected over the full season, the Caps not only would have won the Southeast handily but absolutely contended for first overall in the East (with 104 points... Read Full Story

Fantastically exciting news: Capitals’ Head Coach Bruce Boudreau will have his biography published next fall, and its author is one of the best hockey writers in the business, Tim Leone of the Patriot News . Dulles, Va.,-based Potomac Books is the publisher of the as-yet untitled bio.
“Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau has signed a deal with Potomac Books, Inc. to publish his... Read Full Story
(c) OnFrozenBlog - http://www.onfrozenblog.com/ - Oh to be a hockey-indifferent girl in the Gustafsson household. Dad Bengt of course is a hockey legend, both as an NHL player and international coach. Son Anton is a first-round NHL draft pick, and following in father’s footsteps pursuing an NHL career with the Washington Capitals.
Father and son, as you might imagine, talk a lot of hockey together in their home in Sweden.
“My younger sister, always, after the dinner, stands up and throws... Read Full Story
For the second year running, the Washington Capitals hosted their annual Season Ticket Holder "Meet the Caps" party at Six Flags America . Once again, the team provided fans with a night of fun for all ages. The timing of the event was impeccable -- a perfect Autumn evening, perhaps our last before a spate of rain and cold arriving tomorrow. The crowd was large and enthusiastic, though the autograph lines were far longer than those for the many rides. It's easy to forget how exhilarating a... Read Full Story
Completely unprovoked, Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau spent Tuesday morning lobbying for defenseman Mike Green to make the Canadian Olympic team.
“If I’m Stevie Yzerman, I’m looking at him as one of your top pair,” Boudreau said.
According to people that follow the Capitals closely, it’s the first time Boudreau has publicly made a pitch on Green’s behalf. It’s also an about face from last spring, when after the playoffs were over Boudreau admitted his disappointment in... Read Full Story
It appears as if the Washington Capitals will begin play in the 2009-10 season this week in possession of an extraordinarily unwanted Swedish spare part -- Michael Nylander. I'm not sure even Jaromir Jagr's mid-season flameout here of earlier this decade rivals the novelty of the impasse the Caps have at present with Nyls. At least with that impasse there was resolution, one relatively attendant to the truculent right wing's not-so-secret wish to get out of D.C. At this the dawning week of... Read Full Story

Tim Leone, blogging for the Patriot News , captured as he always does the flavor of the moment in Harrisburg, Pa., yesterday, where Caps’ head coach Bruce Boudreau was honored alongside Bears’ GM Doug Yingst. The Dauphin County Commissioners declared Wednesday Bruce Boudreau Day in the county. Bears’ GM Yingst was also honored for his years of service to his community.

Washington Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau today is in Niagra Falls, Ont., volunteering at the Hockey Resume Free Agent Camp. Hockey Resume helps out-of-work hockey players land minor league tryouts and, hopefully, contracts.
One might think Boudreau is graciously volunteering his time — returning from the NHL to his hard-fought minor league days, perhaps — but Boudreau, ever ready with a... Read Full Story
Very early in this training camp Capitals' general manager George McPhee made an observation about Bruce Boudreau I'd never heard before. The context was a question from a reporter seeking the GM to identify the core identity of his team, and McPhee noted that his head coach, during three weeks of training camp, would be on the ice every day, working with every player individually in virtually every session. That's not something your typical NHL coach does. The point McPhee aptly made was... Read Full Story
