The Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry (usually a major airport) is the one person authorized to allow you to enter the USA. The immigration officer will look at your I-94 (arrival/departure card), your visa, passport and I-20.
CAN I STAY IN THE US LONG ENOUGH TO FINISH MY STUDIES?
The officer at the Port of Entry will stamp your I-94 with the period of time you can stay in the USA. In the case of students, they usually write D/S, this means you may stay in the USA for the Duration of Status. This means you are allowed to stay legally as long as you remain a full-time student making good progress in your English Learning USA program.
HOW DO I QUALIFY AS A FULL TIME STUDENT?
Full-time students must devote at least 18 hours a week to the English Learning USA program.
