Leafs may buy out or trade McCabe / UPDATE: McCabe won't lift NTC

By zanstorm on  From hockey-madness.blogspot.com
From Mike Zeiberger of the Toronto Sun: If often-criticized defenceman Bryan McCabe is a potential victim of the imminent Maple Leafs housecleaning as is expected, it likely will not come via the buyout route. That was the word yesterday from Maple Leafs general manager Cliff Fletcher, who is aware that McCabe's average salary of $5.75 million US translates to a hefty cap hit (almost $3-million per season for six years) in the event the Leafs attempted to buy him out.The more logical way to go...Read Full Story

The joys of being stuck with Bryan McCabe

By zanstorm on  From hockey-madness.blogspot.com
No love for Bryan McCabe in Leafland.... well maybe a little. But the general consensus is that the Leafs need to move on from this guy. Only question is: how? It is going to cost Cliff Fletcher two-thirds of McCabe's contract (at $6.15 million by the way) to get rid of the overpaid inconsistent d-man. That would be a costly $4.12 million I believe. Fletcher doesn't seem to want to do that, according to today's Toronto Sun. Well Cliff, you may just have to suck it up and pay for the sins of...Read Full Story

Bryan McCabe Heading to Broadway: UPDATED

By Hockey News on  From hockeynewsblog.com
Flickr/FrenchKheldar Rangers Acquire McCabe The New York Rangers announced they have acquired veteran defenseman Bryan McCabe from the Florida Panthers for Tim Kennedy and a third-round pick. Glen Sather has once again preformed one of his magician tricks via trade it seems. As poorly as McCabe might be performing this year, scoring only five goals with 17 assists, a player of his caliber is a steal for what Sather gave up. McCabe, 35, will join the Rangers’ blueline in an effort to bolster...Read Full Story

McCabe Thinking Of Moving On

By Tyler Bowler on  From thehockeyfanatic.blogspot.com
In my opinion, finally the Leafs are thinking of getting rid of their over-rated dead weight defenceman Bryan McCabe. According to GM Fletcher McCabe has softened his stance on his no-movement clause in his contract and is thinking of life outside of the Maple Leafs organization. Although Bryan McCabe has an excellent slapshot, thats about all he has. Whenever I watch a leafs game, I constantly see Bryan McCabe pinching in and helping his forewards way to much and whenever the puck goes the...Read Full Story

Why is Bryan McCabe still a free agent?

By hockeyfanland on  From hockeyfanland.com
(Photo credit: clydeorama )There are still a few good free agents out there for NHL rosters to snap up. The most shocking Player in my mind still remaining on that list is Bryan McCabe. Can someone please enlighten me as to why McCabe is still a free agent? I realize the St. Catherine's, Ontario native is getting up there in years at 36 years of age and his cap-hit was $5.75 million a season. That would rank McCabe around the top-10 amongst defensemen. These are all the things working against...Read Full Story
