Flickr/FrenchKheldar Rangers Acquire McCabe The New York Rangers announced they have acquired veteran defenseman Bryan McCabe from the Florida Panthers for Tim Kennedy and a third-round pick. Glen Sather has once again preformed one of his magician tricks via trade it seems. As poorly as McCabe might be performing this year, scoring only five goals with 17 assists, a player of his caliber is a steal for what Sather gave up. McCabe, 35, will join the Rangers’ blueline in an effort to bolster their offensive production–especially on the power play. Despite a recent increase in success, including two conversions on four opportunities in the 6-0 victory of the Capitals last night, the Rangers’ power play has been something they’ve struggled mightily with all season. Currently sitting 21st in the NHL with a 16.9% success rate, McCabe will almost instantly help the Rangers with the man advantage. The Rangers have toyed with several options at the quarterback position on the power play this season, with Wojtek Wolski, Mats Zuccarello and Derek Stepan even getting their fair crack at it. Adding McCabe will not only help the power play, but he will also provide veteran leadership to an extremely young Rangers’ blueline
