Cowboys subject talented Bryan McCann to the open market

The Dallas Cowboys announced that they have cut cornerback and return specialist Bryan McCann and signed wide receiver Laurent Robinson. Robinson was added because the Cowboys fear Miles Austin will miss time with a hamstring injury.

Robinson started 11 games with the St. Louis Rams in 2010, and he caught 34 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns, which isn't very good compared to the great numbers Mark Clayton put up early in the season with Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

Robinson was released by the Cowboys last week to make room for former Panthers fullback Tony Fiammetta.

Last year McCann returned an interception 101 yards for a touchdown, and then the next week he returned a punt 97 yards for a touchdown. He has not shown much in 2011 though, he was unable to create a major defensive role despite a number of cornerback injuries, and he had some trouble returning kicks against the Jets.

McCann should sign with a new team soon, but then again, I said the same thing about Tyrell Sutton, and he's still a free agent.
