Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden was the subject of several nfl trade rumors during the nfl draft.
Ultimately, there either wasn’t much substance to them, or his six-year, $60 million contract was regarded as too much of an obstacle to deal the former first-round draft pick from Arkansas.
“When draft day comes, it gets weird,” McFadden told reporters. “A lot of rumors go around. It’s something I just try not to pay attention to. I talked to coach (Tom) Cable about it. He let me know everything is fine, it wasn’t any big deal.”
McFadden has only played in a dozen games in two NFL seasons.
He rushed for 357 yards in seven starts last season, averaging only 3.4 yards per carry with one touchdown.
As a rookie, McFadden rushed for 499 yards and four touchdowns.
Now, the Raiders seem to be gearing up to feature him more.
The Raiders cut ties with Justin Fargas. So, the bulk of the work will go to McFadden and Michael Bush.
“It was great having him around,” McFadden said in reference to Fargas. ”Me and Michael learned a lot from Justin. We’re just going to take the torch from him and just try to keep it going and get better every year.”
