No, this isn’t a post where I tell Bryant McKinnie to avoid drinking too much over the course of the bye week. No this isn’t a post where I tell Bryant McKinnie to avoid strip clubs, night clubs, or using metal poles as clubs. And no this isn’t a post where I tell Bryant McKinnie to avoid boats and/or Lake Minnetonka. Instead, I wanted to give you a little friendly advice on who to cheer for during a week of Viking-less football (and, no, I haven’t taken each of your fantasy teams into account). Let’s break down some film from the Steelers game to take a look at what is working and what is not. The numbers to the left indicate the time marking for each play on the video above. 0:08: Mike Wallace runs a reverse. Cedric Griffin does a good job of sticking with his man to prevent a big play-action play. Unfortunately, Jared Allen bites too hard on the play action and containment is lost. Madieu Williams whiffs on the tackle and Cedric Griffin only trips him up a bit. Luckily, he only gets a few more yards before E.J. Henderson makes a sound tackle. ... Read Full Story

There seems to be a new attitude and confidence emitting from Winter Park this offseason, particularly when it comes to taking carefully calculated chances on players with red flags. For all that Wilf, Childress, and Spielman have seemed to improve the public’s image of the Vikings off-the-field behavior in recent years, it looks like something is brewing for better or worse. He is thought to be a hot-headed, hard to coach player that has very little respect for authority. He also ... Read Full Story

Here is what’ll likely be the most talked about position in the upcoming draft when folks are discussing the Vikings. Bryant McKinnie is a very expensive left tackle who has for the most part achieved less than what was expected of him, especially in pass protection. Last year, starting right tackle Ryan Cook was awful ... Read Full Story

NFL Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday, 1 p.m., FOX Minnesota has been overachieving. Pittsburgh has been underachieving. In what can be considered their first good opponent, Ben Roethlisberger and company will take the field at home against a stingy Vikings defense which has had 21 sacks and six interceptions in the first six games.
