This car is a true survivor with LOW miles! The odometer currently shows 25, 992, but it may hit 26,000 this week as I am going to drive to a station
that carries non-ethanol gas to re-fill the tank.
This car is all original with the exception of the tires, which were replaced sometime by the second owner (I am the third) with Michelin Road Handlers,
the wiper blades ( I installed new ones, but still have the originals and inserts for them) and a newly rebuilt Delco alternator. (I have the original and a new
voltage regulator to rebuild it). The original alternator was only putting out 11.2 volts and was not keeping the battery charged, so I just installed a newly
remanufactured unit last week.
This car even includes the original sleeve on the drivers sunvisor that tells you how to start the car when it is cold! A complete chassis service manual
is also included, as is the original owners manual and warranty information. I also have the original build sheet and the Certificate Of Origin from the dealer in Athens, GA. I do NOT have the window sticker.
The body on this car is a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. There are a few small door dings that I was told came from the car sitting in the garage of the original
owner of the car in Athens, GA ;and the second owner, who was an elderly collector who had the car for almost 15 years here in Augusta, GA. There is
one small, about 6″ spot on the lower right front fender, right behind the wheel well. I tried to take a picture, but it did not show up in the photo. I will keep
trying to get a photo so you can see how minor this spot is. There is also a small, ding on top of the hood where it looks like something may have dropped on it, but it is no bigger than a tiny door ding. The original owners were an elderly couple and the second owner was also an older gentleman, so I don’t have the details on how these small dings appeared.
There is an oil change sticker on the door jamb from 9-11-1978 when the car had 6874 miles on it!
The interior is 10 out of 10. There are no rips, tears or wear spots anywhere in the interior. The original Buick rubber mats look new as well. The door panels look new with no wear or fading as this car was kept indoors it’s entire life. The windows roll up and down correctly, the AM / FM radio works as
it should and the speakers sound just like they did in 1974. The clock works, but runs slowly. I was told that it could be removed and cleaned to run on time,
but I did not want to take the dash apart for this minor task. All lights, interior and exterior work as they should as do the turn signals and flashers.
The only problem with any component is the passenger side rear-view mirror. The cable seems to be slipping and takes a few minutes to adjust correctly, but it does still work. The mirror on the driver side works perfectly.
The AC works and blows cold and the heater works well.
Inside the trunk, it looks like it has never been used. The ORIGINAL spare tire looks like it has never been touched, and holds air well. I also have the original front license plate mounting bracket that was in the trunk when I got this car.
All the chrome looks to be 9.5 out of 10. The trim around the rear side windows needs to be replaced, and I understand this was a common problem with
GM cars of this era. I have found a guy that thinks he has them, however he is serving in the military in Afghanistan right now. The car looks good without
the chrome trim on these windows, but it is still there and complete.
Under the hood, the car needs some cleanup work. I started to do a restoration, but decided to leave it as I got it so you can see this is an original, unmolested car. I do have a new GM sticker for the air cleaner….455 4bbl, as the first thing I was going to do was have the air cleaner housing powder coated gloss black. I do have a new set of spark plugs and plug wires, but have not installed them yet. The car starts and runs beautifully, however these
are the original plug wires and have dry rotted a bit. I may get them installed later this week if time allows.
Driving this car is a BLAST from the past! It turns heads and gets more thumbs up and compliments / questions that my old Corvette gets! I have driven it
on the highway at 80 mph and it is smooth and quiet. The sound of the 4 bbl kicking in sure reminds me of the cars of my youth in the 70′s!.
I had really planned on keeping this car, however a piece of real estate has popped up for sale that I really want, so some toys need to go.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions, or ask for other pictures. You can check my feedback and see that I have sold several of my cars in the past
and the buyers have been very happy. I try to describe everything completely and honestly.
