Las Vegas' black market for pit bulls and why breeding of pit bulls should be stopped

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Last summer, a Las Vegas news station did a two-part series on the black market for pit bulls. You need to watch it, whether you live in the Las Vegas area of not. What is happening in Las Vegas to pit bulls is happening in cities and towns all across the United States.

Part 1: the video is here and the accompanying text of the news piece is here.

Part 2: the video is here and the accompanying text of the news piece is here.

Please! Don't buy pit bulls from these evil "backyard breeders"!

Please! Don't breed pit bulls!

I firmly believe that there needs to be, at the very least, a temporary ban on ALL breeding of pit bulls until a handle can be gotten on the current pit bull overpopulation and exploitation problem. If something drastic isn't done to stop the unscrupulous overbreeding and genetic mixing of these dogs, then this breed will be lost and these vile and greedy breeders, who are pumping out genetically altered and damaged "pit bulls", will end up causing the public to demand breed bans in every town and city across the country... and they will appear to be justified in doing so to save themselves from the unstable dogs so cruelly created by these cruel and loathsome lowlifes! (Yes, I know breed bans do not work, hence the reason for the emphasis on the word "appear".)

Gone will be the loving, joyful, and human-adoring animal that is the true pit bull, only to be replaced by genetically altered dogs that are unpredictable with humans, potentially dangerous, unsafe for most homes, and that have no place in society.

This is NOT the time to breed anymore pit bulls. This is the time to get a handle on their overpopulation problem. This is the time to stop the unscrupulous breeders. This is the time to crack down seriously on anyone, ANYONE, committing any acts of cruelty involving these tormented animals. This is the time to give the shelters a break by decreasing the number of homeless and abandoned pit bulls that are continuously dumped on them, by the dozens, every day. This is the time to do whatever it takes to protect these human loving dogs from being turned into human aggressive animals, a trait that, historically, has never been a problem for the breed. This is the time to do what is best for the pit bull, not do what fulfils the personal breeding desires of humans.

And, if you think I'm wrong, you need to re-watch this news series as you, obviously, missed the fact that this breed is not only being tortured, abused, exploited, and over bred, but that this breed is having all of its good qualities being destroyed by greedy, despicable humans who will never stop breeding unless they are made to stop.

Mentioned in the news series is Bully Buddies of Las Vegas. They, obviously, have a huge problem on their hands and could use the support. Visit their main website, or their Petfinder adoption site, and see if there isn't something you could do to help them help their rescued bullies.
