The developments in Dubai have wowed the world in the past years, and it seems that the country is showing no plans of slowing down anytime soon. More structures of resorts and skyscrapers are being built, more roads are being improved, more art treasures continue to be revealed, and more new architectural wonders are being brought to life.

If you’re planning a trip to this part of the United Arab Emirates, here are some of the things that you should include in your itinerary. Dubai is a huge place, and there is so much to do and see, but here are some of what we think are the most essential spots to visit that are sure to make your trip extra special and memorable.

See the Fountain at the Burj Dubai Lake.

This is perhaps one of the most impressive fountain displays that you will ever get to see. This fountain system at the Burj Khalifa Lake uses more than 7,000 lights and more than 20 projectors. Seeing these waters dance to music will definitely be a wonderful experience.

Unwind at the Dubai Marina.

This part of Modern/New Dubai is famous for world-class hotels and casinos. This is where you’ll also find the Marina Walk, where you can admire beautiful views and even rent a yacht to have a cruise. The views of the skyline here is simply beautiful (try doing a sunset trip here—the colors are just wonderful).

See the towering Burj Khalifa.

This skyscraper is the tallest man-made structure in the world. It also has the world’s highest observation deck at the 124th floor, so make sure you make a stop to this part of the building. So many other superlatives have been given to this place (such as the tallest freestanding structure, world’s second highest swimming pool, the world’s highest nightclub, etc.), so being here will definitely be quite an experience.

See exhibitions at the Dubai Museum.

In order to fully immerse yourself in Dubai‘s culture, you must visit this museum. This is where you’ll find important artifacts, photographs, and other historical materials of the traditional way of life in the emirate.

Shop at the Mall of Emirates and the Dubai Mall.

Dubai is a shopper’s paradise, and two of the malls that you must check out when you’re here are the Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall and the Mall of Emirates, where you’ll find the Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski slope in the Middle East.

Take the kids to the Dubai Aquarium.

If you’re traveling with kids, this is an amazing place to take them. The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo at the Dubai Mall is where you’ll find the world’s largest acrylic panel, where you can see a wide array of beautiful marine life. Some of the creatures you’ll find here are sharks, rays, piranhas, and the giant catfish.

Marvel at the Jumeirah Mosque.

This is a beautiful structure that has been admired by millions of visitors from all over the world. The Arabic calligraphy, impressive interiors, and the breathtaking Islamic architecture makes this place a definite must-visit for all Dubai visitors.

Take a dip at the Al Mamzar.

If you’re already done with shopping and enjoying the towering skyscrapers in the city, you could spend some time unwinding at the Al Mamzar Beach Park, a place with dotted with an amazing beach, a lagoon, children’s playgrounds, and great play areas.
