In the case of Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, officers are trained to look for established "scoring factors" which must be evaluated in determining whether or not intoxication exists. A finding of intoxication can only arise once sufficient scoring factors are identified. Few issues are as controversial as boating while intoxicated. Many people feel like its not as difficult or dangerous to operate a boat while drinking as it is a vehicle.
