O Say Can You CC Sabathia

Josh Q. Public:  The Big Man on the Campus want people to chant this.  And I mean this.  If I have to I will get fiendish.  And you will be the main course of a mean dish.  -Chubb Rock

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  CC Sabathia.  CC what you have done.  What he done was win last year’s Cy.  In last year’s Cy Young season, Sabathia collected his 1000th career strikeout.  In last year’s Cy Young season, he was named to the American League All-Star team for the third time.  In last year’s Cy Young season, he became the youngest pitcher to notch 100 career wins since Greg Maddux did it back in 1993.  In last year’s Cy Young season, he won the coveted Warren Spahn Award given to the best left-handed pitcher in the Show.  He’s pitching like that again.  Right here.  Right now.  Sure he got off to a slow start.  A touch and go start.  A sloppy Joe start.  Started the season with one win in his first six decisions.  Started the season with a 7.51 earned run average through May 3.  But look at him now.  CC just won his third straight game.  CC just threw a five-hit shutout to beat the Twinkies.  Just Gave up a paltry three runs and  meager six hits over eight innings, while striking out eight in a win over the Padres.  And you saw him yesterday, didn’t you?  Yesterday, CC was masterful against the Dodgers.  Yesterday, CC went yard against the Dodgers.  Chan Ho Park grooved a 1-0 fastball.  Like he grooved one to Cal.  Grooved one like he grooved one to Cal and Sabathia just crushed it.  Bum rushed it.  Crushed it 440 feet out to right for a solo bomb.  That solo bomb made CC the first American League pitcher to hit a homerun and strike out ten men in the same game since Gaylord Perry.  Yowza!  And now the Indians want to sell high.  I’m buying.  I want this guy on my team.  He’s big.  He’s durable.  He’s productive.  He’s good.  Real good.  I know this new long term deal could potentially take him into his mid-30s.  I know he has a slightly less than chiseled physique.  I know these things.  I don’t care.  When you have a shot at one of the best pitchers in baseball you take it.  The Sox took Boom Boom Beckett.  Gave up HanRam for Boom Boom Beckett.  The Sox got a ring.  And you know what they say.  They say, it don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got that ring.  Doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah.

Public Spectacle He’s no CC Sabathia:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!
