As I mentioned before, sport legends not just measured by the achievements from the field. Coach, manager, founder and director of a team, or commissioner of a league, also can change the course of a sport history, thus can be categorized as a sport legends too.
Now, let me introduce you to
Mayo Shattuck, a notable American businessman, and currently Chairman and CEO of Baltimore-based Constellation Energy. As an avid golfer, Mr. Shattuck has been ranked in the Top 10 of Golfing CEOs, according to Golf Digest magazine.
As a CEO of a Constellation Energy based company and a good golfer himself, what's the more better action than combine those two assets into one organization? That's why in 2002 Shattuck created the
Constellation Energy Golf Classic. This organization’s mission is to impact the lives of young people in a positive manner by teaching them the game of golf.

We are now in the era where every aspect in our live was industrialized, including sport. The term "Homo Ludens (Playing Man)" is no longer valid, now sport is about winning, salary, prize money, and profit. This is why we need an organization that sees sport as a character building tool for the youngster, organization that conserve the environment in their activities, and the one that care enough to give a donation to help nonprofits.
Last fall, a group of professional golf players teed off in Baltimore for the Constellation Energy Foundation’s Senior Player Championship. A few hours and 18 holes later, four local nonprofits
were poised to be $100,000 richer. The Constellation Energy Foundation recently announced that it has distributed $400,000 among four Maryland-based nonprofits.
This kind of action, are the one that we need to inspired others company to do the same. Mayo Shattuck and his organization has set an example how to use sport as a media to did a charity. And one more thing, this corporate-sponsored golf tournament is a carbon-neutral event, the first tour to earn that distinction.
