Kalonga are Coca Cola champs
Kabwe’s Kalonga High School are the champions of this year’s Coca Cola soccer tournament.
Kalonga beat defending champions Ndeke of Kitwe by two goals to one at a game played at Kitwe’s garden park stadium. Ndeke were chasing a third successive title.
International midfielder Stophira Sunzu led Ndeke high school to victory in the 2006 edition. Sunzu was voted player of the tournament and won the golden boot award.
Kalonga outplayed Ndeke and took the lead in the first half through Charles Chamutumpa.
Ndeke almost boycotted the match when their goal was disallowed in the dying minutes of the game but soon pulled one back through captain and Power Dynamos left back Chiyesu Sakufunya.
Kalonga scored the winner in the last minute of added time through Francis Kangwa.
And Referee Alfred Zwaki had to be escorted off the pitch by Police Officers at the end of the game, as the Ndeke players tried to vent their anger on him.
