On August 17, 2009, Robert Niblock said Lowe's is scaling back it's expansion. "Consumers are only taking on home improvement projects that they feel are absolutely necessary and are postponing discretionary projects until clarity about the future returns," Niblock said in a conference call. In its Holiday 2007 catalog, containing 56 pages of Christmas gifts, Lowe's advertises hundreds of gift items, including scores of "Family trees." In fact, the word "Christmas" only appears two times in the entire holiday catalog. And it doesn't stop there. I am appalled by Mr. Niblock's refusal to answer my letters regarding a sizable purchase I made of three roofing installations which turned out to be a nightmare. And the matter has still not been resolved, despite all of my phone calls to Lowes Customer Service, and letters to Mr. Niblock. Well, I just got the letter in the mail yesterday, and Lowes told me that my account had been closed. They had just "re-checked" my credit, and decided that it is NOW, after two years of faithfully paying early and always way over the minimum amount due, that I no longer qualify for a credit card with them.
