General Mills Inc. said Tuesday it is eliminating 850 jobs worldwide in an effort to cut costs. Minneapolis-based General Mills (NYSE: GIS) said in a news release the move will cost $109 million, with most of that being recorded in the fourth quarter, which ends May 27. General Mills Inc. will dump 850 jobs worldwide as it seeks to trim costs in the face of climbing ingredient costs, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reports. The maker of iconic cereal brands such as Cheerios, Chex, Lucky Charms, Kix, Trix and Wheaties said the move will cost $109 million and “improve organizational effectiveness and focus on key growth strategies.” General Mills employs about 35,000.
