Brazilian Real a Profitable Investment for Berkshire Hathaway

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has made his money in the past by selling insurance policies and investing his revenue in stocks, bond and various companies.  However, a relatively recent offshoot to his capital allocation practices has be waging against the U.S. dollar by buying multiple foreign currencies - most notably the Brazilian real.

In the time period spanning 2002-2007, the U.S dollar has lost half of its value against the real. Berkshire Hathaway raked in $100 million during 2007 with its holding of the real since the value of it rose 26% during the past 12 months. With the real already up 6.7% this year, the future continues to look promising in regards to Buffett’s holding.
