So yesterday 1/22/2012 was Caitlin’s birthday.
The big 2-3.
Seems like only yesterday she was leaving for college – heading for the University of South Carolina which was the
impetus for the creation of this blog.
My, how the time has flown and how life has changed.
Here’s a recap.
January 22, 1989 – Super Bowl Sunday. San Francisco Forty Niners versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Cailtin was born 11:22 AM - plenty of time for her Dad to get home to watch the game! She was about 3 weeks early and was a teeny little thing at 6 lbs 10 oz.
January 1989 through June 2007: Caitlin is a little sister to Jack. Then she becomes a big sister to Sera. She takes ballet lessons. She plays tball and soccer and then softball. She becomes a gymnast. She plays lacrosse. She plays fast pitch. She goes to grade school at St. Ann and high school at Gilmour. She learns to drive and gets her license on the first try. She goes to dances and parties. And then ….
Fast forward to August of 2007:
Caitlin leaves for USC. I am at a loss without her.
Another fast forward to September of 2008: Caitlin transfers to The Ohio State University! Yay!
Press the FF button again and it is June, 2011: Caitlin graduates from The Ohio State University proving you can indeed complete college in 4 years – even after transferring from one university to another!
The final fast forward on today’s journey takes us to this past weekend. Sera and some friends from OSU came home for the weekend to help Caitlin celebrate her birthday. It was nice having them around – and not just for Caitlin either. There was talk of going to look at apartments – Caitlin is feeling the need to spread her wings. And I get it, really I do. I just really like having her at home – like I have a roomie to do things with when Steve is away. I know the dogs enjoy having her there too. But, I do realize she will eventually be moving out on her own – this time for good.
Good thing I have this blog.
Happy birthday Caitlin – I just wanted you to know I get it.
Love,
Mom
