Last night's Season 2 finale of Californication on Showtime had what has to be one of the funniest, falling-down-laughing scenes I've ever seen on television. Hank had been mumbling all season that he wasn't sure if he was the father of Sonja's baby. He said it again, a few times, right before the baby came out ... and, ta da! ... the baby is black! Hank was right, he's off the hook, Sonja realizes the father was an African-American barista she had forgotten about, and Hank's "Yes!" victory air-pound on the floor is hilarious! Life is working out pretty well for just about all ... Read Full Story

(S03E03) - "Don't put Daddy in a corner." - Hank to his daughter, Becca Something spectacular happened on last Sunday's episode of Californication , something I've been hoping and waiting to see from a big-budget television show ever since I was old enough to realize what life was worth living for, what makes television worth watching. Jackie showed us her boobies! That being said, there was much more to the most recent saga of Hank Moody and company worth mentioning, and Lord knows I could spend a whole review on Eva Amurri's "revealing" opening scene of Hank imaging his star pupil at her night ... Somebody throws a punch this week, and its Becca. Furious that her best friend calls Hank a homewrecker — a charge Becca grants is true, but can’t abide — she pushes Chelsea into a vending machine. Hank hears of all this in a phone call from the principal. And, as adolescent in this episode as he’s ever been, he’s delighted: “That’s my girl!” So both sets of parents get called to the “Mayflower School” for a dressing down. Hank has...

That describes this week's Californication to a tee, except the great sense of heavy letdown doesn't quite sit on...
