BRUSSELS, (PIC)-- The European campaign to lift the siege on Gaza Strip has criticized the world community's slackness in dealing with the "oppressive" Israeli siege on the Strip that has been ongoing for three years. It said in a statement on Saturday that the UN and other international organizations' concern and denunciation did not change the bad situation in Gaza and did not absolve those organizations of their responsibility. The Brussels-based campaign said that the "late" visit of Robert Serry, the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, to the Strip on Thursday 30/40/2009 was a step in the right direction, "although ... I am beating my drum quite fiercely today and the old soapbox is positively creaking under my frenetic hopping up and down, but it is impossible to watch the events unfold and remain silent. A comment just popped in decrying the tendency of global activists to become enraged at the death “of terrorists” and yet remain unimpressed by Israeli endeavours to protect their folk. I think the main (for there are in fact many) issue I take with this line of argument is that it is not terrorists who are dying, but innocent civilians , like Jawaher, Dina, Samar, Ikram, and Tahrir Balousha. Daniel WilliamsNov. 30 (Bloomberg) -- The Islamic Hamas movement banned girls last month from riding behind men on motor scooters and forbade women from dancing at the opening of a folk museum. Girls in some public schools must wear headscarves and cloaks. Signs of Hamas’s creeping Islamization are everywhere in Gaza, the Mediterranean coastal enclave that Hamas has run by itself since 2007. Gaza is already politically divided from the West...
