Callie Thorne on 'daunting' starring role in 'Necessary Roughness' [Video]
 | Callie Thorne, who stars in the new USA hit "Necessary Roughness," admits she was worried about headlining a series after so long as an ensemble player. "It seemed very daunting to me. I liked being part of the supporting layer that is there to push the 'A' storyline along." Inspired by New York Jets psychologist Donna Dannenfelser, Thorne plays Dr. Dani, a recently divorced Long Island mom, juggling her home life with her new job as a therapist for the fictional New York Hawks. This is just the latest in a line of tough-talking women for Thorne that included roles on NBC's lauded "Homicide: Life on the Street" and FX's "Rescue Me." As she tells senior editors Rob Licuria and Chris Beachum, "They've all had a lot of sass; they've had a lot of balls."
