Sihanoukville Bus Station Location
Those that have arrived or left town over the past couple of days will have noticed, some to their shock, that the Sihanoukville Bus Station has changed locations.
For the past 4 or 5 years it’s been situated just off the main Ekareach Street, across from the Freedom Hotel, now though, it has returned to where it once was, inside the World Trade Market on the road that runs parrallel with Ekareach Street.
This move must come as a big shock to The Freedom Bar who recently turned down a couple of ‘asking price’ offers for the place, his walk-in business will surely suffer as far as meals and rooms go.
That said, the Motodops around town will be loving it, being dropped outside the Market means you really have nowhere to walk to and just about everybody will need to use a taxi of some sort. Perhaps their are a couple of Khmer run Guesthouses that could do ok out of it, but nothing is close enough to be instantly recognisable, so probably not.
Talk of this move has been muted around town for at least the past year, and only the other day I remember saying to a friend “yes, but that could happen in 6 months or even 6 years” …… turns out it was around 6 days!
