A fire in Norkor Thom commune in Siem Reap on Thursday burned over 10 hectares of forest near the famed Angkor Wat temple complex.
Sok Leakhena, deputy director of the Authority of the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Angkor, said the blaze spread to within seven kilometres of the temples.
“It didn’t harm any of the villagers because we controlled the fire, however, it damaged some of their crops,” said Sok Leakhena, adding that it took them three hours and eight fire trucks to put out the fire.
