I just wanted to know people’s reviews about these 3 lakes. My family and I ( i am the youngest @ 15) are planning to go to one of these lakes in a week and a half. We are going to tent camp. I’m leaning toward shaver but I’ve heard that it gets crowded and the campgrounds are expensive and noisy. Any info will be appreciated (anything like the personal preference, other activities, water temperature, campgrounds, how crowded the lake is, etc.) Thank you.
I think Union Valley should top the list followed by Shaver. Millerton water is pretty dirty and the scenery is dead brown grass and dirt. It’s barely in the foothills so only occasional oaks dot the hillsides. Union and shaver are higher in the mountains, cooler, beautiful forests, and smell cleaner.

Here’s the deal, planning an end of the summer camping trip with some friends.
We need a place:
-Cheap (no more than 40 a night, so most likely rustic)
-Good for college students (no quiet time/ no state campgrounds/ no family oriented campgrounds)
-Easy to find (no backwoods/ deliverance style campgrounds, I’d like to see myself graduate college)
-Preferably by a lake but doesn’t need to be (most likely Lake Huron)
-And please no further than 2 or 3 hours north of Detroit.
So there will be about 3-6 of us and we’re thinking about using tents because it’s hard to find a good deal on cabins. Unless you know any really good deals then by all means send them my way.
In your answer please include:
Nightly rates
Name of campground
Locations
and/or a link if there is one
And if you can please add in a personal review.
Thanks
