If you were a child of the 80's, you most likely were a fan of the
oh-so-many popular sitcoms that filled your house with not only laughter, but at times,
tears. Unlike what you see on television today, the stories were filled with life lessons, feel-good humor and characters that we grew to admire and love.
I was fortunate to touch base with one of my favorite childhood actresses, Candace Cameron Bure. That's right, the adorable little girl we watched grow up on the wonderful, funny, show,
Full House! And yes, Candace is also the sister of my younger day television crush,
Kirk Cameron.
So, why was I interested in learning more about Candace today? Well, she is one of the few childhood stars who grew up on television and lives a very admirable, "normal", and "drama-free" life. We love talking about beautiful people, and Candace Cameron Bure, is a true example of beauty, inside and out!
SG: In three words, how would you sum up your childhood?
CCB: Family, beach, friends
SG: You have grown in to such an amazing, inspirational woman. How did you manage to stay so grounded?
CCB: My parents placed family as the first priority growing up. My dad modeled and instilled messages of hard work and priorities no matter what we were doing (especially with the fluff that can be built up around you in the entertainment business which he always said was not reality.) My mom modeled love not only to us kids as a priority, but as a neighbor who's door was always open. She's always had her arms stretched wide open to help anyone in need.
SG: Did you have a role model growing up? If so who?
CCB: My parents. As with any child, they are ultimately the ones shaping your values, viewpoints, character and integrity because they model those behaviors in their own actions. As a child, I was keenly aware of everything they did.
SG: In three words, how would you describe your life now?
CCB: Humbling, blessed, chaotic
SG: Television shows are so different today. Do you have a favorite show that you watch?
CCB: American Idol
SG: We love chatting beauty on the inside and out. What is your definition of a truly “beautiful” person?
CCB: Someone who exudes joy despite their circumstances.
SG: What is your fashion style like?
CCB: Clean, classic, modern with a hint of trendy. Think Jennifer Aniston or Reese Witherspoon. At least that's what I try to achieve.
SG: What can people find Candace doing today?
CCB: Today.... summer is approaching. I'm on hiatus from my show Make It Or Break It and on a rest from my "Reshaping It All" book tour, so I'll be hanging in Napa Valley with my husband and kids enjoying the sunshine and a glass of Bure Family Wines :)
SG: What is one piece of advice you hope your children listen and follow?
CCB: To love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
Thank you so much Candace for taking the time to answer our questions and learn more about the wonderful person you are today!
