Captain Lou Albano, WWE Wrestling Legend, Dies At 76

Captain Lou Albano, a legendary WWE wrestler, manager, and actor died today at 76. The boisterous man led 15 wrestling tag teams over his 42-year career, and also starred in the Cyndi Lauper music videos for "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Goonies 'R' Good Enough." He also played Mario on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! He usually sported a signature long goatee, which was held together by rubber bands.

Captain Lou Albano passed away at the age of 76. The wrestler is credited for helping wrestling move into mainstream pop-culture, and was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 1996 for all of his contributions to the sport. A statement released by the WWE read that Lou was "one of the company's most popular and charismatic legends."

Lou got his start in wrestling in Canada in 1953, then made his move to the US where he joined the company that would later become the WWE in the '60s.
